This Subprofile feature of LINE App (the “Subprofile Service”) is provided exclusively for Members of LINE Premium Membership. Use of the Subprofile Service constitutes agreement to the terms herein. Even if your LINE Premium Membership is canceled, these terms shall remain effective during the applicable 30-day grace period and upon reactivation, as stated in the LINE Premium User Guide. “LINE Premium Membership” means the paid membership service provided by LY Corporation (the “Company”) through LINE App, which allows Members to access exclusive features, including the Subprofile Service. “Member” refers to a person who is subscribed to LINE Premium Membership. Any matters not stipulated herein, as well as any conflict or inconsistency between these terms and the LINE Premium User Guide, shall be governed by and subject to the provisions of the LINE Premium User Guide.
- If misuse of the Subprofile Service—such as fraud, impersonation, or other forms of abuse—is reported by other users and verified by the Company, your LINE account may be subject to restriction or suspension, in accordance with LY Corporation’s Terms of Use and applicable policies.
- Regarding Main Profiles and Subprofiles
- The “Main Profile” refers to the profile information (such as image and display name) configured by the user upon LINE account creation. The “Subprofile” refers to additional profile information created through the Subprofile Service and set to be displayed to specific users of LINE App.
- Information related to the Subprofile Service, including your Main Profile, Subprofiles (including any previously set versions), and the relationships between these profiles, may be visible to other users depending on the context of use (e.g., chat rooms, notifications). You cannot designate which profile will be shown to which user. Please ensure that you fully understand and accept this aspect before using the service.
- The Subprofile may be used in services that utilize LINE App’s friend relationships, including certain third-party services linked via LINE App. For a full list of services where the Subprofile is available, please refer to Section 3: Details on Services Available for Subprofile Usage.
- In certain services, your Main Profile may be displayed to users even if a Subprofile has been set for them.
- Due to system behavior such as caching, profile synchronization delays, or display in shared content, your Subprofile (including previously set versions) may be shown to users for whom no Subprofile was explicitly configured.
- Use of the Subprofile in Supported Services
- Examples of Available Services
- The profile you have set will only be visible to your friends of LINE App.
- The profile you have set will be displayed to all users of a chat room in which you participate.
- The profile you configured prior to blocking or hiding a friend will continue to be displayed to that friend.
- If you have set a Subprofile for a friend who has added you as a favorite, that friend will receive a notification when your profile is updated.
- In LINE VOOM, the profile you have configured will be displayed as your name on posts, social profile, and in the comments section..
- The profile you have set will be displayed during one-on-one and group calls.
- The profile you have set will be displayed when using LINE Gift features, such as purchasing gifts or viewing gifts you have received or sent.
- The profile you have set will be displayed while using LINE stickers, emoticons, and themes, including in friend selection lists and gift lists.
- The profile you have set will be displayed in Talk Room features such as voting, events, and ladder games.
- Key Cautionary Points
- The Subprofile cannot be used in LINE Family Services unless you are logged into your LINE account. For the purposes of these terms, “LINE Family Services” refer to services provided by LY Corporation or its affiliates—such as LINE VOOM—that are accessible through the LINE App and linked to a LINE account, excluding the core messaging function.
- In LINE Family Services that do not rely on LINE friend relationships, the Subprofile feature is not supported.
- In chat room messages, such as reservation confirmations or LINE GAME updates, the Main Profile or a previously set Subprofile may be displayed. As a result, a profile different from your current setting may appear to friends.
- Official LINE accounts may collect or retain Subprofile information through group chats or other interactions.
- Subprofile and Main Profile data may continue to be held by official LINE accounts or linked app providers even if your LINE Premium Membership is canceled.
- If an official LINE account is included in a group chat, it may communicate or respond using your Subprofile name even if your Main Profile is set, or using your Main Profile name even if your Subprofile is set, depending on the configuration.
- If you grant a linked app access to profile information, your Main Profile will be shared with the service provider.
- If a linked app requests friend or group information, your Subprofile may be shared with the service provider—without your direct consent—if one of your friends using that app has set a Subprofile. This setting can be managed under LINE App Settings > Privacy Management > Information Access from Apps.
- If a linked app requests friend or group information, the service provider may be able to access both your main profile and Subprofile, and identify which profile is shown to which friends.
- If a group does not have a name set and “Do not automatically add friends to the group” is enabled, or if a participant uses LINE version 14.19.0 or below, your Main Profile name may be used as the group name.
- The Main Profile is displayed in schedule adjustment tools within Talk Rooms, and LINE VOOM Live.
- When sharing a LINE VOOM post on external social platforms, the Main Profile of the publisher will be displayed.
- When sharing a LINE VOOM post (including mentions and comments) in chat rooms, the profile name shown to the sender will be displayed. This may reveal the Subprofile configuration status to other participants.
- If a user has not added you as a friend, your Main Profile may be visible in the LINE VOOM custom list.
- If a note with mentions or comments is copied and pasted into a Talk Room, the profile name shown to the sender will also be pasted. This may disclose whether the Subprofile or Main Profile was shown to each user in the Talk Room.
- If a mention is included in a note body, the profile name shown to the author will appear in the related Talk Room notification. This may indicate which profile was displayed to which users.
- A profile name shown in a prior notification (e.g., note creation) will not be updated, even if the profile is changed later.
- When a friend addition notification is sent to the other party, your Main Profile will be shown.
- If a message mentioning you via the LINE Chrome version is shared in another chat room, the profile name used at the time of mention may be displayed, regardless of later changes.
- In LINE GAME, your Subprofile may be displayed even if your Main Profile is set. Conversely, even if a Subprofile has been set, your Main Profile or another Subprofile may be shown to other users.
- Scope of the Subprofile Service for Members
- Members may create up to two Subprofiles in addition to their Main Profile.
- During the active LINE Premium Membership period, all features of the Subprofile Service will be available for use.
- If you cancel your LINE Premium Membership, a 30-day grace period will apply from the date of cancellation, during which you may continue to use the Subprofile Service. If you re-register during the grace period, your Subprofile information will be retained. If you do not re-register within the grace period, the Subprofile information stored by the Company will be permanently deleted, and friends previously shown your Subprofile will instead see your Main Profile.
- Once your Subprofile information is deleted, it cannot be recovered or restored under any circumstances.
- If you resume use of the Subprofile Service after cancellation, your prior agreement to these terms will remain valid throughout the grace period or upon reactivation of your Membership.
- Changing the Registered Phone Number to a Country Where Subprofile Service Is Not Available
- Members may change the phone number registered to their LINE account to one from a country where the Subprofile Service is not supported. If the new number is from such a country, LINE Premium Membership will expire, and a 30-day grace period will begin from the time of login using the unsupported number.
- If Members do not update their registered phone number to one from a country where the Subprofile Service is supported within the grace period, their LINE Premium Membership will be canceled and all stored Subprofile information will be deleted. These Members will also lose access to edit Subprofile information or assign Subprofiles to friends.
- If Members restore their registered phone number to one from a country where the Subprofile Service is supported within the grace period, their Subprofile information will be retained.
- Upon restoring the phone number to one from a country where the Subprofile Service is supported, the Subprofile information will remain associated with their account and available for use.
- When Members add a LINE official account operated by the Company, its affiliates, or other service providers in the LINE App, or uses services within the LINE App
- a. If you grant access to your profile information, your Main Profile will be shared with the Company, its affiliates, or the relevant service provider.
- In some cases, the Company, its affiliates, or other service providers may access both your Main Profile and Subprofile(s), and may infer information such as which profiles are being displayed to which friends.
- Even if your LINE Premium Membership is canceled for any reason, your Subprofile information, along with your Main Profile, may be retained by the applicable service provider if it has previously been shared
※ The following special terms regarding the use of LINE GO shall apply exclusively to users residing in Taiwan:
(a) The Main Profile is displayed in schedule adjustment tools within Talk Rooms, LINE VOOM Live, and the Member-Get-Member feature (invite-a-friend campaign) in LINE GO.
(b) On the screen of the Member-Get-Member (invite-a-friend campaign) feature in LINE GO, your Subprofile will be displayed in the friend selection list. However, on the campaign page showing which friends have been invited or have joined, your Main Profile will be displayed to those friends.
