The sub-profile feature of LINE (hereinafter referred to as “this service”) is provided for LINE Premium members. You cannot utilize this service unless you agree to the following terms.
- 1. If misuse of this service (such as fraud, impersonation, etc.) is reported by other users and results in disciplinary action, the use of your LINE account may be restricted.
- 2. Regarding main profiles / sub-profiles
- The main profile is the “existing profile information” that a user can set up when creating a LINE account. The sub-profile is “additional profile information” (such as image, display name, etc.) that can be created through this service and set to be displayed to specific users.
- Information related to this service, including the main profile, sub-profile (including any previously set sub-profiles), and the relationships between these profiles, will be accessible to third parties as public information. It is not possible to set a specific profile (main or sub-profile) to display for a specific user. Please ensure that you have acknowledged and fully this aspect before using the service.
- The sub-profile can be used in services that utilize LINE’s Friend relationships (not limited to services provided by LINE). For details on available services, please refer to “3. Details on Services Available for Sub-profile Usage.”
- Your main profile information may still be visible to other users for whom you have set a sub-profile.
There is a possibility that sub-profile information (including previously set sub-profiles) may be displayed to users for whom you have not specifically set a sub-profile.
- 3. Details on Services Available for Sub-profile Usage
- Examples of Available Services
- Only Friends on LINE will see the profiles that you have set.
- The profiles that you have set will be displayed to the members of the chat room.
- Profile set before blocking or hiding will be displayed to Friends that you have blocked or hidden.
- If you have set a sub-profile for Friends who have added their LINE account to their favorites, those Friends will be notified that your profile has been updated.
- In LINE VOOM, the publisher's name, social profile, and profile set in comments will be displayed.
- Profile set during 1:1 calls and group calls will be displayed.
- You can view the profile set during the use of LINE Gift (such as selecting delivery addresses, received gifts, sent gifts, birthday calendar, etc.).
- You can view the profile set during the use of LINE stickers, emoticons, and themes (such as Friend selection lists, received gift lists, etc.).
- The voting, event, and ladder game features within the Talk Room display the set profile.
- Key Cautionary Points
- When using LINE’s family services (services other than the messenger that can be used with a LINE account), such as LINE VOOM, the sub-profile cannot be used if you’re not logged in.
- In LINE family services that do not utilize LINE's Friend relationships (services other than the messenger that can be used with a LINE account), the sub-profile cannot be used.
- In various messages where profile is displayed in chat rooms (e.g., messages sent from a company’s official LINE account, such as restaurant reservation confirmation messages or messages showing scores shared by Friends in LINE GAME, the main profile and sub-profile set before any changes may be displayed. As a result, a profile different from the one you have set for your Friends may be shown to them.
- The main profile will be used in conversations with official LINE accounts.
- There is a possibility that official LINE accounts may acquire/store sub-profile information through group chats and other means.
- Sub-profile provided to official LINE account operators or service providers of linked apps may continue to be maintained by those operators or service providers, along with main profile, even if you lose your LINE Premium membership status due to cancellation or other reasons.
- If an official LINE account is included in a group chat, there is a possibility that the official LINE account may communicate or respond using the sub-profile name for users who have their main profile set, or communicate or respond using the main profile name for users who have their sub-profile set.
- If profile information is granted permission for a linked app, the main profile will be provided to the service provider.
- If a linked app requests Friend or group information, your sub-profile will be provided to the service provider without your consent if a Friend who has set up a sub-profile uses that app. This can be controlled in the 「 LINE app settings > Privacy Management > Information Access from Apps. 」
- If a linked app requests Friend or group information, the service provider can identify your main profile and the sub-profile simultaneously as well as understand the relationships regarding which profile is displayed to which Friends.
- If a counterpart with a sub-profile is using LINE app version 14.19.0 or lower, or if a group has not set a group name and has enabled "Do not automatically add Friends to the group" in group chat settings, the main profile name may be displayed as the group name.
- The schedule adjustment function in LINE VOOM Live and Talk Room displays the main profile name.
- When sharing a link to a LINE VOOM Post on external social media, the publisher's main profile will be displayed.
- When sharing a LINE VOOM Post (including mentions and comments) and its link in a chat room, the profile name visible to the sender will be displayed as is. Therefore, the sub-profile settings status between the LINE VOOM publisher and the members in the chat room can be identified.
- If the other person has not added you as a Friend, the main profile may be visible in the LINE VOOM public group list.
- If notes containing mentions or comments are copied and pasted into a Talk Room, the profile name visible to the sender will be pasted as is. In this case, the sub-profile or main profile settings status set for each member in the Talk Room can be identified.
- If a mention is made in the body of the note, the profile name visible to the author will be displayed as is in the message format notification shown in the Talk Room. In this case, the sub-profile or main profile settings status set for each member in the Talk Room can be identified.
- Your profile name displayed in a notification (such as a note creation notification) that has been sent once will not be updated even if it is changed afterward.
- When a notification is sent to the other party upon adding a Friend, it will be sent with the main profile.
- If a message that mentions you through the Chrome version of LINE is shared in another chat room, the profile name prior to any changes may be displayed in the shared message.
- 4. Scope of Services for LINE Premium Members
- LINE Premium members can create up to two sub-profiles in addition to their main profile.
- During the LINE Premium membership period, all features of the sub-profile can be used.
- Even if you cancel your LINE Premium membership, a grace period of 30 days will be given from the cancellation date, during which you can continue to use this service. If you re-register for LINE Premium during the grace period, their sub-profile information will be retained. However, if you do not re-register before the grace period ends, the sub-profile information stored by the company will be deleted, and Friends with a set sub-profile will only see the main profile.
- Once sub-profile information is deleted, it cannot be restored.
- If you begin to use this service after agreeing to these terms, your agreement will continue to be considered valid even if you resume using the service after your LINE Premium membership has been canceled.
- 5. When a LINE Premium member changes their LINE account phone number to a country where sub-profiles do not apply
- LINE Premium members can change the phone number registered to their LINE account to a phone number from a country other than Japan (overseas). If the member logs in with an account registered with a phone number from a country where sub-profiles do not apply, their LINE Premium status will expire, and a grace period of 30 days will be provided (based on the time of login from a non-applicable country).
- If the member does not change their registered phone number to one from an applicable country within the grace period, their LINE Premium membership will be canceled, and the sub-profile information stored by the company will be deleted (the member will not be able to edit sub-profile information or set Friends).
- If the member restores their registered phone number to one from an applicable country within the grace period, the sub-profile information will be retained.
Changing the registered phone number to one from the applicable country will transfer the sub-profile information.
